What I am about

I someone who is always learning something new. Whether that is how to make a new product, designing a new graphic, building a new software application, creating new multimedia in various formats. I can't say which things are my favourite because I enjoy mixing it up too often. I guess I am a collector of skills and hobbies.

In my professional career, I've focused I've been all over the place. I've worked in the telecom industry, network security, defense applications, and now in broadcast technology

I am a Certified Associate in Project Management from the Project Management Institute and a graduate of Carleton University and Algonquin College's Bachelor of Information Technology: Interactive Multimedia and Design program.

What am I working on now?

Ugh, I am now reworking an old multiplayer game project that I had put aside for two years just because my life has been in chaos for that amount of time, working on a renovation at my house. The renovation is still not done, but it is atleast in the 90% complete stage which probably means it will never get done now because it's all the boring detail finishing parts which i am never good at. But now I atleast feel comfortable in doing some of my own background projects outside of renovations. I recently upgraded to Unity 2020 and of course my project wouldn't compile after the update so I quickly fixed that, and now that I've been programming professionally for an additional 2 more years since I've touched this thing, I have to rework how certain portions of the project are put together, so that is what I am working on.

What was the latest thing I've worked on?

It's been a long time since I've updated this page, but it's probably a good time to update it. Recently I upgrades a whole bunch of software during my 2020 Holiday Pandemic vacation and trying to learn how to use the new tools and software. In Adobe Illustrator I was having fun using the Shape Builder tool after seeing some tutorials. It had been a while since doing Graphic/Logo design just because I had done it so often I kind of got fatigued with the exercise. I recently picked up a book for the holidays to read called Draplin Design Co. - Pretty Much Everything by Aaron James Draplin and I finished it way too quick. I really enjoyed the book and the perspective that Aaron had when it comes to design of logos, branding, what is involved with dealing with clients, helping out friends get out of binds, and his general philosophy on what you do in your life. It really resonated with me, so I did a simple exercise to create a logo for a tea company just to get back into the swing of things. Sometimes you just have to do exercises that you find fun yourself or can help another person out. #freefridays
